En Sabah Nur, better known as Apocalypse, is one of Marvel Comics' oldest and most powerful mutants. Born in ancient Egypt approximately 5,000 years ago, he was abandoned as an infant due to his grey skin and blue lips. He was raised by a nomadic tribe who recognized his strength and named him En Sabah Nur, meaning "The First One."

Possessing the Mutant X-Gene, his powers include superhuman strength, durability, regeneration, and the ability to manipulate his molecular structure. He can alter his form, project energy, and control technology, including the alien Celestial technology he discovered in his early life. This technology further amplified his powers and granted him near-immortality.

Apocalypse adheres to a philosophy of "survival of the fittest," believing that only the strong should survive. Throughout history, he has manipulated events and engaged in genetic engineering to create a superior race of mutants, often clashing with the X-Men and other heroes who oppose his ruthless methods. He views humanity, and many mutants, as weak and seeks to either eliminate them or force them to evolve through trials and tribulations.
